Welcome to Sally’s new blog

16 OHI hope you will enjoy following me through this new chapter of my life.  For those who would like to follow me on this new adventure, I plan to share some of the things I encounter along the way including photos and possibly video’s of thing of interest. Before I get started I think I should go back just a little to what helped me make this huge step of faith.

As many of you may know before I return to Australia in 1995 I had been in Thailand for 3 ½ yrs.  This is a story in itself and maybe one day I will reminisce with you about this and the previous overseas trip.  Actually looking back on my life I’m sure travel is in my gens!  Maybe I have some Viking blood in me 😉

At the beginning of this year I had no idea what was about to happen!  I had just bought a new Mazda 2 and was planning to take a short 3 week holiday in Perth in May.  That was not to happen.  By March the winds of change had begun to blow and by April it had turned into a hurricane!

After nearly 20 yrs in Sydney I knew a change coming but was not sure from what angle.  I had been restless of about 3 yrs but didn’t really know why.  I wanted to move on but no doors were opening and I wasn’t sure what I would do next or if I could leave my present position of running a business to returning to my hearts passion, working in a third world country.   I wanted to use my talents and skills but wasn’t quite shore how I was to go about that.  As a mothercraft nurse not a midwife my area of expertise is very specialised and quite limited.

Then after speaking to my sister Jen one evening she prompted me to take action.  In her words ‘if you don’t do it now you may never do it’.  That was it, my mind was made up.  I would go.

I made some rough plans which have changed quite frequently over the past months due to one reason or another.  Still my beliefs are that ‘The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps’.  Proverbs 16:9.  So as I lay my plans before the Lord and asked Him for guidance things slowly fell into place.

I’m still waiting for the sale of my business and I would love for someone to buy the furniture and move into the flat I’m renting as this would be a huge relief.  I would then be able to leave without having to get rid of it all.  At the moment I’m in the throes of cleaning, sorting, packing, throwing stuff away…. well that is what I am supposed to be doing but I have procrastinated AGAIN to learn how to set up this blog and to write a few short words!

Now I’m feeling guilty so I’d better get back to the packing!  I’m thinking maybe I may need to postpone my departure to the 27th instead of the proposed date of Sunday 24th!

For the mighty prayer warriors out there I’d really appreciate your covering and support.  I don’t expect this journey will all be smooth sailing, there will be rough seas and although I know who will be at the helm I definitely appreciate your support.  I see you as part of the team… and essential part!

To all those who would like to follow along, I will endeavour to keep you up to date but, God willing, not bore you!  😉

Note: please be patient with me as I learn the ropes of this new blog layout.

Also please forgive any spelling and grammar this has an American spell check and being dyslexic I can’t always see the mistakes (bit like asking a colour blind person the difference between red and green LOL)
