The World in Turmoil

47 mothOh what a week this world has had! All the atrocities happening throughout the world with terrorism and natural disasters, rumours of war and hatred being spurred on from all sides. People rising up against one another, facebook colours in support of the grieving which is right but others feeling their grief has been over looked.   It is really very sad, so much talk of violence and hatred.

Martin Luther said “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Wise words.

Then the light started shining through all the darkness as towards the end of the week I started reading amazing works or those reaching out to the suffering. A testimony of an ISIS leader coming to Christ through a bible given to him by a Christian before he was killed. An amazing video of the courage of a father, Antoine Leiris who lost his wife  and one showing how we can help the Syrian refugees (Leading the Way),  Max Lucado, speaking on who is really behind all this chaos and another video (New2Torah) on where all this may be leading us.48 a farewell to staff

After the world events my little activities seem very far removed and insignificant but life goes on. Yvonne sat her final exam for her Nursing Education and the excitement of having it all done could clearly be seen on her face.

First there was a farewell for some of the ASM staff who are moving on. ASM is going through a few changes with new staff coming an49 b Jenny - games with studentsd others leaving. They are looking for a registered nurse with experience in diagnosing and managing medical problems as well as a caterer for next year’s students so if you have skills in any of these areas and feel a calling to Africa you can apply by email to Sister Holtzhausen.

The second farewell was a BBQ for the auxiliary nursing students. There were fun games and feasting before they too knuckled down to studies for their exams. We had just had a week of hot weather and no rain but on the day of celebrations, rain was predicted. Dark clouds rolled over 49 c students and staff ASMwith claps of loud thunder and lightning, fortunately there was only a slight drizzle. The days and nights that followed brought a little more rain but barely enough to soak the grounds and definitely not enough to make any difference to the dam levels. Still the cool change was very welcome. At times I even needed to wear a cardigan. It certainly made working in the kitchen pleasant.

During this time I was locked out of my blog administration due to an IP violation or so I was informed. It seems because I travel around my IP address changes at every location. All was well while I was in Asia I’m not sure why Africa should be such a problem! Anyway the first time it occurred I was able to contact an49 g fairwell lunch 14 Nov 15 IT person who explained what and why and how I could unblock the problem. By the time he had contacted me the problem had resolved on its own. Then it occurred a second time, so I waited a few days to see if it would automatically correct itself again but it didn’t! So once again I went on line to see if I could find answers. They all seemed very complicated to me and it seemed I needed to get in before I could unblock the problem. But that WAS my problem! I couldn’t get in! It was suggested I try through someone else computer but of course Yvonne’s computer is linked to the same network so I presume has the same IP address! I still couldn’t get in! Hummm what to do now!

Then I remembered when I firs51 p consultation tablet started my blog the reason I decided to go with Bluehost was there was a guy who offered assistance anytime it was needed, and what’s more he didn’t charge a fee! (most unusual in this day and age) He had helped me many times while I was setting up my blog site, I wondered if he was still around to help now. I found an old correspondence with his email address and sent off an SOS asking if he was still available to help a damsel in distress. Praise the Lord he was. It wasn’t long before he had unlocked the site for me which enabled me to get back in. He also disarmed the security which was blocking me out which I thought would leave me vulnerable. He also suggested I download a new program to help protect the site. I learnt a few more applications and we were ready to go again. Praise the Lord!

Wednesday, Yvonne was still 51 j Nomsa leading two to Christrejoicing that her exams were over. She suddenly realised she was back to her usual routine, no more stress and no more study!  I joined the ASM team once again for the clinic out at the farm. This time I took along the rattles I had made for the babies from plastic medicine containers. They were much appreciated by babies and toddlers alike. Straight after the devotions which was taken by one of the ASM auxiliary nurses, two patients asked if t51 l rattle for babyhey could give their lives to Jesus. Nomsa who is the team’s anointed evangelist lead them outside so she could speak with them about their decision. She then asked me to pray for the woman while she prayed for the guy before giving them both booklets to help them understand their commitment. Before the day was over Nomsa had lead another lady to Christ. It’s all in a days work for her. She does it so naturally. What a gift. The heavens were certainly celebrating today.

Just before leaving the farm it was lunchtime and some of the mothers came to pick up their children. One mother came in and looked all around obviously looking for one of the babies. At first she hadn’t recognised her baby as we had changed her into a knitted dress made my some of Yvonne’s supporters. It was so funny when she finally recognised her, scooping her up in her arms and smothering her with kisses. It was a joy to watch.
